Therapy or Coaching - which one’s right for me?

When you feel overwhelmed or stuck, finding the right kind of support makes all the difference. Therapy and coaching can each provide meaningful guidance, but they serve different purposes depending on what you’re hoping to address.

Therapy focuses on healing the wounds and traumas from your past that continue to shape your life today. Whether you’re carrying unresolved pain, feeling weighed down by anxiety or depression, or grappling with patterns that seem impossible to break, therapy offers a safe space to slow down and explore the roots of these struggles. Together, we’ll work to gently connect with the parts of you that carry those burdens, helping them heal so you can move forward with greater freedom and clarity. While there is never a minimum or maximum number of sessions, therapy typically lasts longer than coaching.

Coaching is centered mostly on solving current challenges and achieving specific goals. If you’re navigating a tough decision, stuck in a cycle of self-doubt at work, or trying to create change in your personal or professional life, coaching provides a structured and forward-focused path. By exploring the inner blocks and beliefs that might be holding you back, we’ll work together to help you shift those patterns so you can move forward with confidence.

In my practice, both therapy and coaching are grounded in the transformative Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, which embraces a holistic view of the mind. IFS allows us to work deeply and gently, without judgment or pressure. In the IFS view, every part of you – whether it’s an anxious inner watchdog, a strong inner critic, or a burdened, vulnerable side – has a reason for being there. Instead of trying to “fix” or silence these parts, we’ll approach them with curiosity and compassion, allowing you to uncover their fears, desires, and ultimately, their strengths. When these parts feel heard and understood, their power over you lessens, and you can begin building a life guided by your Self – your own confident, calm, intuitive center.

This means that during therapy, we’ll probably address a lot of current challenges you’re facing. And if we’re coaching together, we might discover some deeper wounds and have the chance to heal them.

No matter where you’re starting from, both therapy and coaching are valuable tools to help you develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself and create the life you want. If you’re unsure which path is right for you, feel free to reach out – we can discuss your goals and challenges to find the approach that best supports you.

What’s Artist Coaching?

As artists, our creative work is deeply personal – we bring our whole selves to the stage, the studio, or the page. Our creativity is often tied to the most vulnerable parts of who we are, and at times, it can feel like our deepest wounds fuel our greatest art. Sometimes this can even make us fear that healing those wounds might extinguish the fire that drives us.

With IFS, we can approach these fears with compassion and curiosity. Rather than losing your creativity, healing actually allows you to access more of it. By working with the inner struggles – performance anxiety, self-doubt, or the critical voices that hold you back – we free up the energy you once spent battling them. The result is a deeper connection to your creativity, grounded in clarity and self-trust.

Artist Coaching isn’t about fixing you – it’s about befriending every part of yourself, learning from them, and helping you move forward with confidence. Together, we can quiet the inner noise and unlock your full creative potential in a way that’s sustainable and balanced.
